FAQs

What is laser engraving?

Laser engraving uses a focused beam to permanently etch your design directly into the surface of the product. On metal, the engraving typically appears as a frosted silver-white mark against the material. It produces a clean, professional look that's ideal for logos, text, and line art.

How durable is laser engraving?

Laser engraving is one of the most durable customization methods available. Because the design is physically etched into the material rather than applied on top, it's permanent — it won't peel, crack, fade, or wear off, even with heavy daily use. That makes it an excellent choice for drinkware, tools, pens, and other items that get handled frequently.

What types of artwork work best with laser engraving?

Laser engraving works like a single-color stamp — the laser is either on or off at each point, so it's ideal for solid logos, text, line art, and bold graphic elements. It does not reproduce photographic images, gradients, or color. If your design relies on shading or multiple tones, screen printing or full-color printing would be a better fit.

Is laser engraving available on both sides of the product?

On many products, yes. Two-sided engraving is available, typically with an additional setup fee for the second location. Your proof will show exactly how the design looks on each side before production begins.

What type of leather is used?

Our leather products use genuine leather, top-grain leather, or high-quality synthetic leather (leatherette/PU leather) depending on the specific product. The material is noted in the product specifications above. Leatherette products offer a consistent look and feel at a lower price point, while genuine leather products develop character over time.

How are leather products customized?

Leather and leatherette items are most commonly debossed (pressed into the surface) or laser engraved, both of which create a permanent, elegant customization. Debossing produces a subtle indented impression, while laser engraving creates a visible contrast mark. Some leather products can also be screen printed. The best method depends on the product and your artwork — our team will recommend the optimal approach with your free proof.

Do leather products age well?

Yes. Genuine leather develops a natural patina with use, which many people find adds character and warmth. Leatherette products maintain a consistent appearance over time. Both are durable enough for everyday use as portfolios, padfolios, luggage tags, and accessories.

Can I see a proof before production?

Absolutely — every order includes a free digital proof showing your artwork on the actual product. Proofs are typically delivered same-day for orders placed before 2:00 PM EST. You'll get unlimited revisions until the design is exactly right, and production doesn't begin until you give your approval via email. If your artwork needs cleanup or recreation as a vector, our design team handles that at no additional charge.

Can I request a quote instead of ordering online?

Yes! Use the "Free Proof and Quote" button on any product page to request a no-obligation quote. We'll send you a detailed proposal with pricing, production timeline, and a digital mockup of your artwork on the product — easy to forward to your team for approval. There's no commitment and no pressure.

Do I need to pay setup charges again when I reorder?

In most cases, no. If you're reordering the same product with the same artwork and specifications, the setup charge is typically waived since we already have your artwork on file. Just mention it's a reorder when you place your order or request a quote, and we'll confirm.

What file formats do you accept for artwork?

For the best results, we recommend vector formats: AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS, or vector PDF. These scale to any size without losing quality. We also accept high-resolution PNG, JPG, and raster PDF files — for screen printing and engraving, our design team can recreate your artwork as a production-ready vector at no extra charge. When in doubt, send what you have and we'll let you know if anything else is needed.

What is the production timeline for this product?

This product ships within 5 business days after proof approval. Production begins once you approve your free digital proof — we don't start until you're 100% happy with the design. For products that offer online design, you may waive the proof step if you're confident in your design, which can shave time off the overall timeline. Rush production is available on select items; ask us when requesting your quote.
